FCN Creates Unique Football Coaching Internship for 2022- 2023

The FCN’s purpose to ensure that all sports people have the opportunity to lead, coach and compete in a safe, efficient and equitable high performance coaching environment now extends to the world of football.

Alongside the ongoing change projects in Track & Field (UK and Global), a new Football project has been launched to provide female coaches with supportive networking platforms and unique opportunities to coach in the elite game.

The FCN | UEFA B & Beyond project will provide the 5,216 female football coaches qualified at FA Level 2 (UEFA C) – UEFA A in England wanting to progress through the elite football coaching pathway.

The 2022 – 2023 season will see the FCN partner with a major football club to place a female coach on a season long internship. This fully funded season long internship will provide a female football coach a unique learning experience in one of the World’s biggest football clubs.

Whilst the Women’s Super League currently has the highest percentage of female head coaches across global domestic football leagues, work still needs to be done to further improve this and ensure an increase of talented coaches for both men’s and women’s leagues through the next generation.

This internship is an innovative approach to eradicating the barriers female coaches face in gaining access to such experiences and will aim to deliver unique learning opportunities unobtainable anywhere else.
