UKA Athletics Launch New Operational Plan

UK Athletics launch their new Operational Plan which sets out a new vision for the sport.

The plan follows on from the launch of ‘Athletics Unified’ last November, a shared vision of the sport jointly created alongside the Home Country Athletics Federations (HCAFs) Athletics Northern Ireland, England Athletics, Scottish Athletics and Welsh Athletics.

The UKA Operational Plan 2021-2032 launched today is UKA’s plan to support the delivery of Athletics Unified goals. A new identity, Age of the Athlete, is also unveiled to signal the start of a new era.

Hear CEO Joanna Coates and the UKA Executive Team present the headlines from the Operational Plan here.

Widespread consultation took place with stakeholders including athletes, coaches, officials, Sport England and UK Sport, partners and competition providers. The themes which emerged from this national consultation exercise are reflected in the plan, based around three key pillars:

  1. Athlete First
  2. Superstructure
  3. Commercial Edge

Laura Turner- Alleyne – Multievents coach and coach to Holly Mills

From a coaching point of view, the priority will be to: “Identify, recruit and develop expert Talent and Performance coaches to deliver across the Performance and Talent Pathway and National Age Group teams.”

We’re very optimistic for the future of the sport in the U.K. and look forward to supporting their vision for coaching.
