Celebrating Female Track & Field Coaches for #IWD2021 with ALTIS

The FCN have teamed up with ALTIS for this year’s International Women’s Day to celebrate the community of female track and field coaches around the Globe.

Female coaches in Track & Field are often a rarity, particularly at the elite end of the sport.  During the World Athletics Championships in 2019, less than 2% of all competing athletes had a female coach, in the U.K. less than 8% of athletes in the Top 100 of each event have a female coach and in the US, only 15% of NCAA D1 Track & Field teams are led by a female coach.

Whilst these women may be low in numbers, they are high in success and experience – and that is what we want to celebrate during this years IWD.

Throughout the day, we will be posting videos and images on our social media platforms of female track & field coaches aimed at celebrating their achievements and sharing their experiences.

Keep your eyes on the FCN and ALTIS websites and platforms!
